2012 Organic Crops Field Tour

A public event at the East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center – Organic Crops Unit

2012 - Neither rain nor hail (again) could stop our fourth Organic Crops Field Tour!
It was a great success with over 195 people attending to tour the 10 acres certified organic and 4 acres in organic transition and to learn about a variety of organic growing topics including the use of hightunnels, composting, seed saving, organic nut production, tomato grafting and more!
Participants also had the chance to learn about organic products and services provided by exhibitors who also contributed to the event.

Things got underway with visits to the Exhibit Tent.

A wide variety of Workshops and Programs followed. For example...

High Tunnel Production
Tomato Grafting for Enhanced Yield and Disease Resistance

The morning's programs were followed by a super tasty lunch catered by UT's Culinary Institute and a presentation by Blackberry Farms Master Gardener and Seed Saving Expert, John Coykendall

The day concluded with Equipment Demonstrations and a Walking Tour of the farm.
