Rob Holland was appointed Director of the Center for Profitable Agriculture in September 2007. Rob served as the Center’s Financial Feasibility Specialist from April 1998 to August 2007 and served as an Extension Area Specialist in Farm Management from September 1993 to March 1998 covering ten counties in East Tennessee. Rob received a B.S. degree in Agricultural Business from the University of Tennessee Martin in 1991 and a M.S. degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1993. As an Extension Specialist, Rob has assisted farmers and agri-entrepreneurs in the analysis, evaluation and development of value-added agriculture enterprises. He has completed financial and feasibility studies for more than 100 farmer projects in Tennessee, conducted training seminars in 93 Tennessee counties and conducted educational programs in 8 other states. He has developed 18 peer-reviewed educational publications, taped more than 85 radio programs and written more than 150 news articles. He has served as the principal investigator for more than 15 grant-funded projects which contributed more than $800,000 to UT Extension. In 1997, Rob was named Communicator of the Year by the Tennessee Association of Agricultural Agents and Specialists, received the “Outstanding New Extension Worker Award” in the UT Institute of Agriculture and the NACAA “Achievement Award.” In 2001 he received the “Dutch Cavender Award for Best Educational Publication” and he has been recognized at the national level as a regional finalist in three educational and communication awards. In 2002, Rob received the UT-TAAA&S “Hicks Award of Excellence.” Rob is a native of Giles County, Tennessee where he grew up on a small family farm and was a National 4-H winner. Rob’s has two children, daughter named Reagan and son named Clark. |
