Sarah

Sarah is a native of rural northeast Ohio and received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Kent State University. After internships with a lake biocontrol project and a biochemical limnology lab, Sarah pursued an M.S. at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, examining land use affects on stream processes.

She then spent several years as a resource coordinator at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at University of Georgia working on variety of projects involving plant cell wall carbohydrates, ranging from rare substrate synthesis and distribution, cotton fiber formation, and preparation for a major collaborative biofuels initiative project. Upon relocation to Auburn, Alabama, Sarah worked for a small environmental consulting firm which involved much field time delineating wetlands, streams, and special habitats as well as working with landowners/developers to maximize water resource preservation.

Upon relocating to Knoxville she was excited at the opportunity to pursue a personal interest in sustainable agriculture while returning to the research realm and thus joined David Butler’s Organic, Sustainable, and Alternative Crop Production laboratory in October of 2010.
